Wilshaw was contracted to design the support structure for the Jameson Cell and to integrate the new installation with the existing plant. The scope ranged from the detailed engineering design and drafting of the 15m support structure including stairways and work platforms through to surface infrastructure (raft footing) and piping design. Throughout the design phase the client was constantly updated with the latest design developments and provided with a “virtual walk through” before committing to the design.
At the request of Equinox Minerals Ltd, Wilshaw carried out a design review and cost comparison for the tailings discharge options and recommended a preferred option, which was accepted by the client for final design.
All designs are in accordance with Lumwana design standards using South African standard structural sections.
