In May 1990, Wilshaw and Byrnecut developed, designed, certified and supplied the first modular galvanized escapeway underground into Bounty Gold Mine - a world first.
As the original developer, designer and installer, we know them inside-out – literally. We know what we’re doing, and we do it damn well - if we do say ourselves!
But more importantly, so do our clients.
Check out the video that shows how - our 110m escapeway, installed in two shifts – job done.
About Wilshaw Escapeways
Wilshaw escapeways are a cost-effective, practical solution for mining operations to ensure employee safety and emergency egress are always at the forefront of any underground operation.
With decades of experience designing, manufacturing and supplying escapeways to the Australian and international mining industry, we have pioneered the way for underground mining operations to safely and cost effectively install escapeways.
Our unique design considers operational requirements and can be modified to suit individual site conditions.
In accordance with relevant design codes, strength-wise, the escapeways are designed to AS 3990 – 1993, Mechanical Equipment – Steelwork, comply with MSIR 1995 10.26 (Western Australia) and conform to AS1657-1992 with modifications to suit an underground environment and special requirements associated with emergency egress situations.
